Good Bye Teardrop

We got our Teardrop Trailer in 2006.  I have lots of great memories associated with it.  We've gone camping at Teardrop Trailer Gatherings.  I used it for a last trip with my daughter Elise and her family to Yellowstone National Park.  It's been a spare bedroom for family visits.  And we've towed it behind our '59 Chevy Apache Truck in hometown parades and car shows ... taking several awards and trophies.

To go traveling with me, however, John needs more than the Teardrop Trailer offers.  So, we sold it yesterday to a nice couple from Olympia.  We will use those funds to get a Class B Van with RV amenities to go traveling.  Now, all I have to do is peal John away from his chicken flock.

What a difference a day makes

Yesterday at sunset we had rainbows, sunshine, and cherry blossoms ... tonight snow!

Remembering Billy Rheynalds

Picture from Seattle Times Obituary
On Sunday, January 16th Billy was called out to remove a fallen tree between Fall City and Carnation.  It was pouring, the rivers were flooding, and the wind was blowing hard.  This is the type of work DOT road maintenance workers do.  This is the type of work that John use to do.

Billy was killed that night by a tree whose roots were undermined by the flooded river and, then, blown over by the wind.  His death came as a shock to us and others in the DOT community.

Since John's retirement, a few of the guys still keep in touch with him.  Billy was one.  He was a good friend.  I'm remembering Billy again today, as the rivers are again flooding and John is on the phone with another DOT friend.

It just seems right to remember Billy here.
